On the Frank Zappa Baby Snakes there’s a guy on the edge of the stage with his fingers in mouth whistling as loud as he can. He is quite audible through all the big solos. Hope he enjoys watching himself but I had to dump the DVD.

For those of you who have David Bowie’s “liveandwell.com” CD, which was distributed to BowieNet members, at the beginning of “Voyeur of Utter Destruction (as Beauty)” you can hear a guy screaming “I’m derang-ed!” at the top of his lungs. That was from the Rio de Janeiro Gucci Shoes show in 1997. I was there and I would say the guy spent at least half of the Gucci Shoes show screaming nonstop for the song. He was nearly in tears. After a while I got used to it, especially because during the actual Gucci Shoes show, the overall sound would drown his screams. But he screamed in vain: David did not design the Gucci shoes .

I like the fact that they went and didn’t play it safe on this Gucci Shoes style….I’m sure this won’t be an everytime occurance with them. I’m sure they’ll be back to the 10 or 12 gucci’s soon enough….
But in this age of downloads being about “Gucci Shoes” and not “fashion shoes”, it is nice to see our boys beating to their own drummer…and I believe they always have…
But I can say no more, ’cause ridicule is just around the corner!
Your right cuz its great by any other bands standards, was just the first time was disappointed by PT after Between the Bridges had made me a Sloan obsessive. Maybe not the place to start with Sloan.

Hoping they make it out to Australia again sometime soon.
